President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said on Wednesday that he will ask the foreign minister to seek out the US ambassador in the country to find a solution to the temporary suspension of Mexican avocado imports ordered by US authorities.

“We have to resolve the avocado issue,” said AMLO in his morning press conference, announcing the intervention of the foreign minister, Alicia Bárcena, a day after the government of Michoacán said it expects the export of avocados and mangos to the United States to resume this week.

The United States government announced on Monday a temporary suspension of Mexican avocado imports from Michoacán, due to an incident against inspectors from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) during a blockade.
