During 2023, Mexico’s total food exports to the world were worth 50 billion dollars. With this level, it becomes the seventh country that supplies the most food to the global population.
During 2023, Mexico rose from ninth to seventh position in the ranking of countries that export the most food.
With a total value of 50 billion dollars in food shipments abroad, according to figures from the WTO (World Trade Organization).
With this value, it displaced India and Argentina, and became the second country in the Latin American region that exports the most food, only below Brazil.
Mexico exports a large amount of processed foods, taking advantage of free trade agreements and its wide agricultural diversification; as well as international demand and its competitive labor force.
Beer is the star food product in exports; followed by tequila and other processed beverages.
Also included among the main exported products are: bread, water and soft drinks, fruits and nuts, fruit juices and other food preparations.
The European Union and the United States remain the main food suppliers in the world.
