The Chinese ambassador to Mexico, Zhang Run, said that the relationship between both countries will continue to grow in light of the various mutual interests they share and expressed his firm support for Mexico’s position of opposing external interference and safeguarding its national sovereignty.
In his speech commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the diplomat reiterated China’s support for Mexico in the exchange of experiences such as in the digital economy and agriculture.
“Currently, Sino-Mexican relations maintain excellent development, whose strategic, complementary and mutually beneficial nature becomes increasingly prominent, translating into mutual understanding and support in matters concerning our respective vital interests and fundamental concerns, in the fruitful results of practical cooperation and in people-to-people exchanges,” he said.
Among the achievements in the bilateral relationship, the diplomat highlighted that bilateral trade in the first eight months of this year reached 73.913 billion dollars, marking a year-on-year growth of 11.8 percent. In addition, from January to July of this year, the flow of Chinese tourists to Mexico exceeded 114,000, an increase of 44% compared to the same period of the previous year.
“Mexico’s imports from China play an important role in improving the competitiveness of Mexico’s exports in favor of the balance of its foreign trade. Chinese investment has driven Mexico’s rapid development in transportation, manufacturing, telecommunications, traditional and clean energy, among other sectors,” he said.
He also reiterated that his country will continue to strengthen the bilateral relationship with the new government of Claudia Sheinbaum.
